Conditions

The VI International Serge Koussevitzky Double Bass Competition will be held in St.Petersburg in December 4th – 11th, 2016. Musicians at the age under 35, i.e. born after December 1981, can take part in the competition.

 

How to apply

Applications are accepted till November 15th, 2016, at the web-site www. bassacademy.ru www.competition.bassacademy.ru

The following documents should be enclosed to the application:

1. passport copy in electronic format

2. CV (in electronic format)

3. colour photograph in electronic format (not less than 1 MB in JPG format)

 

Prizes of the Competition

1st Prize — 200 000 Roubles

2nd Prize — 100 000 Roubles

3rd Prize — 50 000 Roubles

Two diplomas, 25 000 Roubles each

The organizing committee provides the participants with an accompanist, free of charge, with a 60 minute rehearsal before each round. The contestants can arrive with their own accompanists; this fact should be stated in the application form.

Participants from foreign countries should apply for passports and visas in Russian consulates on their own. Visa support is provided by the organizing committee of the competition.

Entrance fee is 4 000 Roubles; to be paid during the registration of the participants.

Order of the competition

There are 4 rounds in the framework of the competition; 3rd and 4th rounds are with orchestra. All the works should be performed by heart, except an obligatory work. A double bass pitch is according to the participant’s wish.

 

All auditions are open for the public.

The order of performance at the competition is determined by the draw ceremony and remains till the end of the competition.

The Jury has the right:

1. Not to award all the prizes;

2. To share the prizes between performers;

3. To award diplomas and special prizes.

The Prize Winners are obliged to take part in the closing concert.

The organizers of the competition have the right to carry out audio recording, photographing and video filming, with further CDs and DVDs issues.
